Head down into the ship's own viewing lounge — no transferring onto a cramped glass boat — settle in by a panoramic window, and watch coral ridges, tropical fish, and the slow colour of the reef drift past: close enough to feel like swimming, dry enough for anyone. Later the ship anchors over two hand-picked coral gardens; slip in with mask and fins and the hour disappears among shoals of fish that ask for no experience at all.
